cold its fine. when i prime when hot its at 30, when i start its 30 then slowly drops again.

What's the f/p reading when cold and then when hot after it dies and you restart it.
Ok so the f/p remains constant at start up regaurdless of temp correct? Usually if the pump is getting hot enough to shut down, it won't immediatly fire back up. That's the only issue I'm seeing in not condeming your pump. Although it is most likely, Those are the types of situations that will bite you in the ***.

it's been my experience over the years that they either work or they don't. Mostly gm's have the highest failure rate like whoa!!! The ratio between gm and ford is like 10 gm to 1 ford.

There was a weird one I ran into but again on a gm. Classic symptom. Pump failure. Repalce the pump, sent the car out everything great. Came back a few weeks later same thing. Drooped the tank to have a look and found a loose connection in the harness where it goes through the outside of the tank unit to the inside. Ended up having to rplace that as well cuz it was not a servicable part.

Long story short, although never seen it on a ford, doesn't mean it couldn't happen. Remeber, heat expands, if there is a bad connection, there will be better conductivity when it's cold ( metal shrinks)than when it's warm (metal expands).
