Default title dilemma!!

i bought the car about a two weeks ago and the guy that i bought it from had the title but he never transfered it to his name. he gave the title that was under the previous owners name but it wasnt notarized, it was just signed by the owner. im having trouble locating the person who is on the title. is there any way that i can transfer it to my name without it being notarized by the owner? the title is signed by the owner he just didnt notarize it. any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

mich. unescessary too. are you sure it must be notarized? if so, claim you lost the title. you have to pay a bit and show some documentation but im pretty sure you would be all set.

Not sure that'll work since it was never in his name.

the only thing you need here in canada to register a vehicle is an insurance slip and the vin#, some may ask for a bill of sale, but no title.

So how do you prove the car is actually yours?
