for reverse i push in the clutch put it in first then reverse no issue it just doesnt like going in reverse without putting it another gear first but you dont have to move forward just put it in first then reverse.

and the stock plastic clutch quadrant suck get a b&m or summit steel quadrent with adjustable clutch cable with firewall adjuster. they work great have one in my car.. if the clutch is cable is not adjusted right it will cause shifting trouble

ive got a 160 dollar b&m ripper short throw shifter its has adjustable stops and i love it...

my buddie puts his in 5th and then brings it straight back to rev no grinding alot easier than going to 1st then moving it all theway to rev!

90 cluster will not work. gotta be 87 to 89, they are wired different and lights different. Hope this helps. Oh, btw, I had all the same clutch problems, replace the clutch, cable, and quadrant ( I have a king cobra, andSteeda cable kit) and all the clutch feel will a world different. Reverse grinding is something you have to live with in any standard
