RE: Decoding my VIN
B= active belts (seatbelts)
P= passenger car
40= lx sedan (coupe)
E= this one is not listed in my book, but based on the codes for other years i would say 1984. maybe not though because they seem to skip vowels... f=1985,g=1986,h=1987,j=1988,k=1989,l=1990

RE: Decoding my VIN
E is in the 8th digit spot,
and the 10th digit is the year, which is J or 88.
but the rest of your info was real helpful.
im trying to find out whether mine had a sunroof stock or not, and its proving to be rather difficult

not that i'm aware of they usually just cover motor. I'm not sure about on a ford but chevy has a panel right on the inside under the hood on the firewall on the drivers side. that just covers seat type (bucket etc. upper and lower paint color, motor and a couple other things

you'd have to find your RPO codes to know if it had a factory sun roof. try to find the build sheet maybe or the metal label that lists all the rpo's. as to where they'd be located, i have no idea.
