Default Coupe Quarter window molding covers?

Hey I was wondering if anyone had used those quarter window molding covers you can get from 5.0 resto.? Mine look like hell and new windows are crazy expensive. The moldings are only like 80.00 but I don't want to waste my time or my money on something that will look as bad or worse when I'm fininshed.

I just taped them off and painted them with a flat black spray paint, and they look great. Try it out. Worst comes to worst, you were going to buy new ones anyway.

Yeah, mine are pitted just from being 17 years old. I thought about sanding them down, but I didn't think it would really help all that much, because it would take alot off of them. I put a bunch of coats of paint on and it filled in alot of it, though you can still see it. I just used some flat black Rustoleum spray paint, and it looks fine. Between the taping, putting on the newspaper, and painting, it took me like 3 hours to do both windows, minus drying time.

Sounds great...I'd rather spend money on something else than trim to be honest.

Thanks for the advice,
Ivan

Sand it or scuff it then use a high build primer to fill it in and give them some substance and then sand them back to where their shape should be then use some stin trim paint to finish it off. It'll look better then factory, it's what i did.

I did the same thing, used duplicolor black trim paint also, and they do look great, better than new like stated above.

Or do what they did...I just wanted it to be done quick. It doesn't look "better" than factory, but it still looks good. Also +1 on Duplicolor, probably better than Rustoleum Auto paint.
