Default Engine Idle Speed?

What is the proper idle speed for an '85 with a 4 barrel. When i got it, it was running about 600 rpm, and i bumped it up to 800-900 rpm. It now seems smoother off the start, but i was just wondering what other people are running.

Mine's about 950 I guess. I have to have it that high, or it will surge 'cuz I have a 107 lobe sep, with a lower vacum. Stock computer program...

yeah, so you think it's good that i bumped it up to 900 rpm. it's still pretty lopey, but nothing like what it was at 600 rpm. lol

cold starts are a bitch for me, even with EFI. It'll usually cut off three times before it'll run really good on a cold morning.

ok ok ok stock it should be right around 750, increasing the idle speed will make the cam percivably smoother and run your engine excesories a little easyer.

so question is...is it stock? if so why run it at somthing other than what ford recomends?

it is bone stock in the engine department to my knowledge, and i have no idea what ford recommends. is it bad to increase the idle speed to help it run smoother?
