5.0 swap
hey guys, I have a 1993 mustang convertible LX with a 4 banger. i wanna swap to a 5.0 but im fairily new to the whole thing, so i wanted to know a few things. Like first off, my grandfather has a running 1983 crown victoria wagon with a 302 (EFI) and i was wondering if the 302 block itself was the same from 83 to 93 cuz i would like to put some parts from a 90-93 5.0 on it. Also i was hopeing that anyone who has done the swap themselves could give me a complete list of all the parts needed and changes made.
also i heard that a couple guys kept the front springs for the 4 cyl on the car after they put a 5.0 in and they said that the car handles much better this way, is this true?
thanks for any help

RE: 5.0 swap
4 cylinder suspension is ok if u have minor power..a 5.0 swap is relativly easy you can go to flechs 5.0 mustangs and see articles on it...yes a crown vic 302 is baasically same i think a few thing are a lil different like cam spec and intake ports..im not sure..but regardless if its a 5.0 in a crown vic and want it in a stang use it..i took a 70 302 block and put in my stang 85model..had to get 5.0 mounts and a pan with humps for cross bar..

RE: 5.0 swap
Hi,
I am just finishing up this swap.My daughter had an 88 gt 5 speed,she smashed the front end in.I found an 89 4 cyl hatcback automatic for 200 bucks with a clean body.It was alot more work than I thought it would be,had to swap,engine,trans,rearend,brakelines,master cylinder,fuel lines,engine wiring harness,dash wiring harness,pedal assy,front struts,rear springs,front spindles,front brakes,etc,
but I left the front springs in the car from the 4 cyl.I tried to swap them, but the 8 cyl springs would not come out, very tightly squeezed in car.It sits a little lower in the front now,but it looks good. jim
