Shortening SN95 rear end to be fox width

Shortening SN95 rear end to be fox width
Ok, I've gone through all the Fox body options in my head and think I found one that I might use (To put a fox housing in my 67 which needs 59.25), but now I had another thought.. Are the housings in the SN95's the same, or are they longer? I was thinking, if you can use a fox body housing and put sn95 axles in it to make it longer, couldn't you take an SN95 housing, and put ranger axles in it, to make it shorter? But then I could imagine the only problem would be the disc brake mounting and what not. Anyone done this?

No, I have to use the original 1967 4.25 backspaced tire, which is why I have to maek a 5 lug disc brake axle to 59.25.. I hear the housings are exactly the same for a fox body vs. SN95?

The housings are the same for the 8.8 rear up untill 99.
Im somewhat confused at what youre doing. Do you want an 8.8 with 5-lug, and rear disks for your classic, while retaining fox body width?

I am under the impression that a fox body width is 59.25, which IS the same as a 67 width (from wheel mounting area to wheel mounting area), however, the parts for a 67 are faaar more pricier. I have an 8" housing, and that center piece alone with trak-lok is well over $500, plus I would like discs.. So I'm trying to see how I can accomplish this for a better price..
So far, I think if I get a fox housing (and modify it for leaf springs), get ranger axles, and find a way to get disc brakes seems to be the cheapest option. OR an sn95 rear, but then I think I'd be paying more, and still have to buy shorter axles, and find a way to mount discs (but I'd already HAVE the discs I guess)..
If I could find someone selling a fox rear with a good gear ratio, I'd be ahead of the game..

the only reason SN-95's have a wider rear stance is because the axles themselves are longer. I know if you look around, you may be able to find a shop that can take a SN-95 axle, lengthen the splines in the end, and cit a small amout off, which will shorten the axle a small amount. however, you will then need to fabricate, or modify the caliper brackets

I have been told I can take the SN95 or Fox rear housing, and install the ranger axles.. And then either make a bracket, or use a TB supercoupe bracket to mount SN95 calipers.. Sound logical?

Sounds like Frankenstien!
and I think you want 2 of the same side on the ranger axles, since one is longer than the other.
or just buy some new 4 lug axles, they're not that expensive.
www.ssbrakes.com has some nice rear brake kits
look under like 89-91 5.0 mustang.

If you use ranger axles, SN95 rotors, and calipers, you need these brackets: http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/...0%201&comp=LRS
youll just have to custom bend the metal hard lines on the rear, since the rear disks use rubber lines between the metal hard lines and the calipers, similar to how the front brakes work.
