[:'(]My mac Exhaust is still not working...now i think it is my mechanic that sucks. He says it is a total nightmare trying to bolt on my exhaust...any i bought all bolt on parts!!!! I am so frustrated! He says there are three things wrong...1 if he bolts it all on tightly it will be touching the frame of the car which will rattle.2 if he bolts it up to were it doesnt hit the frame there will be an exhuast leak.3 if he bolts it up with hit not hitting the frame an no leak then it will be hitting the driveshaft! I double checked that i ordered the right parts through Stangsuspension and Josh is great he even called MAC and asked them and they gave some tips on how to install which i passed on to my mechanic and he says it is a nightmare..what should i do go to a exhaust specialist? Please no posts on how i should do it mysef i havent the time and i have no tools. Please help guys.. Who has a Mac off road h pipe for a 95 GT auto and a catback exhaust?[:'(][:'(]
Actually, He's probably not lying. I just bought a set of MAC shorty headers for my V6 Mustang. Theya re supposed to be a direct bolt-on replacement for the factory manifolds. Far from.

On the drivers side, the exhaust tube for the middle pipe is so tucked in that you cannot tighten the lower bolt without having the oil dipstick shoved/bent out of place. You can't put the dipstick back in if the header is anything more than just hanging in place.

On the passenger side, lower bolts on the 1st and 2nd pipe have ZERO clearance for a socket because of the way the pipes are routed. The only thing you can use is a racheting wrench (barely) which means that torquing to spec will not be possible since you can't get a socket in there for the torque wrench

The stock exhuast has plenty of clearance for a socket on each of the studs/bolts needed to tighten it down.

If I had to do it again I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND MAC ANYTHING. They are inexpensive for a reason...lack of thourough reasearch and development.

Another question...with this bolt on exhaust...(i got the o/r h pipe that connects to the stock headers, and the catback exhaust to match) should he have to lengthen the O2 sensor??? Does this seem right? I would think MAC would of know this and would of 1 put the O2 sensor bung in the correct spot before they started mass production...or 2 would of disclosed this info before you purchased their product. This is just another clue to me thinking that he is installing this thing all wrong.
Yes, on just about ALL aftermarket exhuasts you will need longer O2 wires. I bought the Pypes header back system and the bungs for the front 02 sensors on the front are on the 'underside' of the exhaust pipe where the factory ones were on top. This makes installation and connection of the 02 sensors easier but the wires will need to be longer. For the rear, I think I can get away with the stock length. I'm replacing all four on my car anyways so I'm not worried about buying new ones with longer wires.

Ok, I got my car from him today and the exhaust is like half done...I have an appointment at an exhaust specialist shop tommorrow morning, but so far the h pipe is connected and just kind of hanging there, so for one it is loud as a nascar and two it scraps when i enter or exit a driveway...do you think the exhuast guy can install new hangers and everyhthing so i get some clearance back? I have sportlines and 18 inch rims and had no problem before the exhaust...i just had subframe welded on the hang a lil lower, but the h pipe is like 1 inch from the ground.

i've got sportlines too, you'll be fine.

oh, i know your new to this forum so i hope you've learned you kind of have to pick through the bs that people post on here and go with advise from people with the same year car and mods. theres about eight posts above this one from people with fox bodys or different exhaust set ups trying to give you advice. i've never really understood why folks on here wanna do that. guess they get there jollys off making people think they know what theyre talking about, when theyre really just making a somewhat educated(or uneducated) guess.

and again, YOU DON'T HAVE TO EXTEND YOUR O2 SENSORS.

MAC....gotta expect that unless you go w/ BBK. Sorry had to say it! Anyhow tell your mechanic to bolt it up tight and take it to cole muffler or another muffler specialist shop and have them bend the midpipe to clear the frame. Good Luck and in the future pick quality over cost.
I dunno what the hell you are talking about, I've got full MAC exhaust (headers, mid pipe, and catback) and everything fits just perfectly. For the record BBK doesn't make a catback .

But anyways, why don't you just install it your self? For the price of his labor you could have have bought the tools to do it yourself.
Okay first off he is putting on a MAC H Pipe (and yes BBK does make these I have one) secondly there are a ton of people on here who have issues w/ MAC products myself included. Finally, great advice... do it yourself, what makes you think he can behind it to fit if a mechanic can't? he already said previously that he preferred a mechanic to do it for other reasons... [8D]
