Default Fuel Gauge...

I have given this no thought, and I'm all out of ideas. My gas gauge is pegged at F. Is this one of those very common super easy fixes?

My bad. It's an 88 GT. I'm sure it's just the sending unit, but I thought I'd start a conversation.

Have you tried unplugging the sending unit to see if it drops. Also, try banging on the dash to see if that helps. Sometimes they stick. Can only be, the gauge, wiring, or the sending unit.

Again, I've literally done nothing to correct the problem. As far as sticking...It's all the way up. I mean any higher and it would be at 12 o'clock.

I suppose I could check the sending unit. The rest of the gauges work fine...So I doubt it's the wiring.

If you want a real brain tickler...Solve this problem. My fuel pump doesn't work unless I jump it with the ECC test connector. I'm just going to run a switch at this point. But what the hell is with that?

Is this a new problem?

I had a simmilar problem. Someone swapped out the speedo on my car and bolted the cluster together without
looking at where the needle stops were. The needle got flipped around and was always stuck against the stop
saying full all the time. I cut the stop off. Dont do that, just adjust the needle so it can travel its full length.

That said. Check your electronics first. The sender wire is probably shorted to ground somewhere.

Those oversites are the ones that will come back to bite ya. 1 gauge has nothing to do w/ the other. They all use separate wires!! G/L at being lazy!!
