Default Shift kit that doesn't shift into OD at WOT?

Hey guys,

I want to get a shift kit to firm up my shifts as much as possible. I was leaning towards Trango's shift kit because I heard the shifts are neck snapping. But then I read that even in D at WOT it shifts to OD and then back to 3rd. I also heard that this is a problem because of the lower gears (I have 4.10's).

Is there a good strong shift kit that does not have this problem?
What do you guys think?

Get a nice Lentech valve body with electronic OD delete. that way you can shift 1-2-3 in an AOD (instead of 1-D-1.) And when you want OD back, simply flip the switch and you go form 3 to OD.

To be more specific...it's the Lentech AOD Street Cruiser Valvebody (Part Number 7A100-AOD-CRS.) Price is $259 from Lentech. Not a bad price really. Not too much more than a shift kit and it's a much better option.

Personally I'd go with a better VB and wouldn't bother with another shift kit, less of a headache.

I have a Transgo shift kit. Whoever told you that it shifts into OD then back into 3rd when it's in drive is wrong. But +1 for the Lentech valve body.

That answer makes absolutely no sense at all. Learn to shift it? How can they possibly shift an automatic to make the shifts firmer and harder without the use of a shift kit or new valvebody? As the very least they would have to adjust the TV. You can't just simply "learn to shift" and have all of that stuff magically happen. But if you have a way, I'd love to hear it.

Are you talking about learning how to shift 1-D-1? Because if that is what you are saying, that answer isn't much better. Everyone knows that 1-D-1 isn't really good for the tranny. That is why people get new valvebodies and electronically delete the OD. And even if you do decide to do it, it's still not gonig to make the shifts any firmer or harder.

I have the TransGo Shift Kit, but you can't really use me for an example because I have an AODE (not the AOD tranny.) So I can already shift 1-2-D. And when I don't want the OD on (like when racing) I simply press the big red button on my ratchet shifter which turns OD off.

But I absolutely love the shift kit, even though in the near future, I may upgrade to the Lentech VB. I love the feel of the shifts into 2 and 3. 1-2 chirps the tires and 2-3 throws you back in your seat.
