# 4 cylinder noise>?
Hi, finally got my car running good today thanks to grabbem. However since i started trying to get it to run I hear almost like a pinging noise coming from #4 cylinder. No matter what I would do with timing it wouldnt go away. My question is what do you think this is? Could it be a header leak? from removing and reinstalling? or more likely something else.

Sounds like a header leak, retighten all of the header bolts. I realized the other day when I was re-organizing my plug wires (making them look all neat and clean) that I'm missing one of my header bolts, it doesn't even leak, but I'm still probably just going to get the locking header bolts sometime soon.

Most likely a header leak like you said. But it could also be a head gasket over that cylinder (if you have any of the other symptoms.) Be careful though because it also could truly be pinging... could have a bad injector or something in there. Those are unlikely, but worth a mention.

It could be a leaking collector flange to H-pipe. When the car is cold start it up and feel around for exhaust air escaping. Also if you still have the air injection system check the check valves and cross over pipe for leaks and cracks. Dont wait to fix it if it is the header gasket you can burn the aluminum head away.
