I have the infamous Mustang idle surge! Unplugged the Maf and it stopped immidiately. I assume the MAF is bad. What is the best way to test it? I was also considering my options on upgrading to a larger MAF and 24lb injectors. My engine is bone stock at the moment. I plan to get some good heads, GT-40 intake and cam later. I was also told that the stock MAF can be bored to 60MM. Anyone ever done this?? I am open to suggestions!!! Thanks in advance!

uhh unplugging ur maf doesnt mean ur maf is bad, maybe the sensor is bad? just get a new sensor if that dont work atleast you still have a new sensor & just get a c&l 73mm maf.

see me, i didnt feel like doing step by step, and i had alot of new parts so what i did is, i went from bone stock to:

black magic extreme electric fan
aluminum radiator
udp
75mm maf(grantelli & came with new sensor)
steeda egr eliminator
70mm tb(came with new tps)
edelbrock performer upper & lower intake
bbk cai

and just to make sure i didnt have the idle surging i bought a new iac, i changed all my sensors & vaccum lines. worked pretty fine, no idle surge lol.

I sprayed off my MAF wire with electronics cleaner to get the dirt and oil off.
Surge went away.
K&N filters tend to put oil on this wire over time.

Yeah thats what I meant. I think the sensor is bad. Wish I had the funds to go with all new stuff like you did but I'm getting married in December and money is pretty tight right now. Gotta Get the 'stang running right so my woman can drive it till we find her a cheap ride! Thanks for the advice. I'll give it a shot.

oder a new sampling tube for $15... cal'd to 19lb injectors... you wont need more fuel until you add h/c/i or power adder
