Default trans/motor has to be removed...

ok so we found out that my transmission IS burnt out....so were either going to take this one to get it repaired or get one of the t-5's out of the parts 84 5.0l stang that is in the garage....it has an original t-5 tranny (in the back of the car) and a tremec t-5(in the engine compartment) inside it....which one would u recommend? and is there a way to tell if the trannys need rebuilt without having it installed on a car? and any tips on taking the motor and tranny out? while we got the engine out we are going to replace the rear main seal too...its been leaking pretty bad

your best bet would be to clean off the top of the tranny and pop the case cover off and take a peek inside.... this will allow you to see all of the gears, and youll notice if any of them are damaged at all.... i would use the aftermarket tranny.... not the stocker
