i dont trust those speed calculators. i had my car up to 4000rpm orso in 5th and with 2.73's it said i was doing like 175mph or so in my basicly stock 86 gt.lol.. i dont think so. it doesnt calculate in for wind resistence.. or tire resistence
there is no friggin way your car was doing 4k in 5th gear.

I can almost guarantee that my car has ALOT more power than yours, and i had to use nitrous to break 150... and thats about 4200 rpms.

your car neither has the aerodynamics, nor the power to go that fast.... so on you my friend.... i call BS
word.. i was barely breaking 4k with my AOD (3.27's) goin about 140-ish mph

edit: i forgot to mention my foot was through the floorboard

133 - 137 makes much more sense. Like I said, I have found that the calculator is very accurate. The things to take into consideration... the RPM (is that a 3000, or is it really a 2950 or 3050?) the tire size (are they properly inflated?)...

But things like wind and friction are not a factor because, although they DO affect how fast you can go...their effects are directly shown on your speed and engine RPM. So that takes them out of the equasion.

A few people made the point that the calculators are for theoretical speeds. This is true, but not in the sense that you are thinking. The "theoretical speed" that it equates is the top speed of your car. If you have X gears in your car, and you have Y transmission, and your redline is Z, then in theory, you can figure out what your top speed is before you bust redline. Of course, your car probably does not have enough power to ever reach that limit (due to drag, etc.) And THAT is how it is a theoretical speed.

But if you are actually traveling at a given RPM in a given gear with a given rear end and given tires, then you can accurately determine your speed. It's just a simple equasion.

Adder, the '85's and 86's are actually MORE aerodynamic than the 87-93's, you have to look at them from the profile, the 85/86 has a pointed nose where the 87+ is almost literally flat. So which is more aerodynamic? Also, you needed nitrous to get to 150????ARE YOU FUKIN KIDDIN ME! Dude my 94 probe GT with 207K on it will do every bit of 140/145, I test drove a new Saturn Ion redline got it goin 150 NO PROBLEM. And those cars only have 200hp, hell the probe probably only has 190. So if your cobra needs nitrous to get to 150 you got some serious problems.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with my car, in fact, I believe its a factory freak. My car turned 136 mph on the dyno in 4th gear at approximately 5500 rpms. when i shift, my car drops down to about 3750 rpms which is past my cars torque curve, also remember that were talking about a 3450 lb car travelling at 140mph. which is the sn-95's rated top speed. you NEED the extra HP to go faster.... or different gears.

I'd be willing to be that my car could hit 155+ with 3.73 gears

I wonder what my top speed is. My problem is I never get to see it because when I'm running it hard, I'm always at WOT. And at WOT it won't shift into OD (which is a good thing, lol.) I could ease off it to get into OD then slowly get back on it, but I've never tried it.
