Default Gear Break-in

I am getting a 3.73 gear installed right now and was wondering what the best break in would be, if theres one at all. Its a used gear from my friends mustang it doesnt have to many miles on it. Is it broke in all ready or do i need to do it again?

Hmmmm... not sure about the gears being used but I would try to lay off of the throttle for a few hundred miles just to be on the safe side.

ya ive heard of just driving for 500 miles, then ive heard people say that its not the miles that matter its about driving untill the gear gets to a normal temp, then parking and letting it cool for a while, and just doing that for a few time does the trick. I dont know what should be done, i will most likely just give it about 500 miles (or untill i just cant wait any longer)

Ya me and the same friend that sold me the gears drove all the way to Oklahoma from Kansas just to get his new gear broke in for a weekend of fun. As soon as we hit the 600 mile mark we stoped in the middle of the highway and lauched. H*** of fun for us, other cars were a little upset. lol

LoL yes I got them in August! LoL I keep on forgetting about them! lmao. Its ok though because since then I baught injectors, trickflow manifold, 180 stat, FRPP ignition wires, strange 10 ways adj shocks, mm panhard bar, mm subframes, etc.

BTW, since were talking about gears what RP fluid should I get? I need to know because I should be getting them installed next week. I ordered my speedo gear about an hour ago and I just need to get a nice FRPP diff cover now [8D]

RP 75W90 Gear Oil. Already has Fric modifier in it. Also, Mac and UPR and a few other places make less expensive diff covers than what FRPP charges.....
