Default problem with msd ignition

I just installed a msd ignition and coil on my 93 GT. The car is now running rough and sometimes back fires. Tried adjusting the timing but I am not sure which is the best setting to have. does anyone know what the factory settings were? Can some one please give me some info?

Which ignition? I have the Digital 6.Timing from factory I beleive is 10 DBTDC. Do not forget to pull spout connector when timing.

we checked it and it was at 18. we thought it was alittle high so we dropped it to 14 and it ran like crap. back firing and loss of power. so we went from 14 up to 22 and still is running bad. think it could be the ignition?

Make sure you have good grounds and no faulty connections.

we tried a new ground and double checked the wiring. Would the computer interfere with the ignition?</P>
