Default 331 QUESTION

we'll in process of getting ready to rebuild my motor 91 gt want to know from some body who knows wtf. some people say that yoy have to notch the block for the 331 and some people say you dont have to. does somebody know the true answer , would be appreciated/ also what is a good kit for the 331 thanks

look at DSS they have a nice rotating assembly, and no notching the block its a drop in

i had to notch my block just a little bit with the 331 im building but i have h-beam rods and a 68 block. the two may play a part

It doesnt matter if someone says you have to or not. The bottom line is you have to check your rod ends to see if they are going to clear or not. There are two different ways to achieve a 331 and the answer can be a yes and no depending on which crank you use.

Let's compare:

DSS 331Pro kit - RPM crank, RPM rods, Pro series piston = $999.95 + shipping
DSS 331 Pro X kits (more comparable due to piston differences) - RPM crank, RPM rods, Pro X series piston = $1195.95 + shipping
331 kit from me - Scat crank, Scat rods, Probe pistons = $899 shipped to your door

If you really wanted RPM parts, that kit can be had for probably in the $700 range at a retail level.
