Default AODE problems??

Lately my AODE in my 1995 GT has been acting funny. Sometimes at low RPM under load the car will shake somewhat. It feels like TC shutter I think. Where is the TC lockup soleniod on these cars?

I thought it had something to do with fuel delivery because it would also not start. Stuck a 190lph bbk pump in and it fixed the starting problem. Still shakes occassionally tho. Seems like its getting better tho.

Also, If I am in OD on the interstate and get on it the shift doesn't feel good. Any ideas on that one? It just shifts hard. But doesn't feel normal.

Also would a shift kit and/or TC from a AOD tranny work? I can't find TCs for AODEs just AODs

Default AODE problems??

Ihad a TransGo shift kit put in mine and haven't had a problem with the transmission since putting it in (some 15K miles ago). It really woke the car up. I got mine from Summit (TRG-AODE).

If your trans only shakes around 45mph at light throttle,it's probably the converter shuddering, all you need to do is drain the trans pan and converter and refill with Mercon V,it'll fix the shudder and sometimes a harsh shift. The problem is that some of the frictionadditives are worn out, changing the fluid will replace the friction additives.Hope this helps.

Im definetly gonna change the fluid in a week or so. Im heading to Florida from West Virginia so some maintnance is getting done before I go.

So use Mercon V instead of Mercon/dexron III?

I may try some lucas transmission additive to. Says it helps stop TC shutter and lubricate seals.

I have an sn-95 with an auto too. My car did the same exact thing that you described. Initially I thought it was torque converter shudder, however the problem lies in the design of the tranny. The AODE has its mainline pressure and shifts controlled by the ECM. At low rpms the pressure is set to low for the tranny and sometimes it makes it hard, if under a certain amount of load, for it to shift gears smoothly. This will cause the shaking you described. A way you can help rid this is to intall a "good" shift kit. It will help to alleviate some of the shifting problems and will also increase the life of your tranny. And belive me, anything that will extend the life of the seriously weak AODE is a good thing. If you can afford it go with some B&M Trick Shift. Poor a few courts in with whatever was in it before (probably Dexron/Mercon III). Then next time have the system flushed and put purely the Trick Shift in. Your tranny with shift better and last longer.
