underdrive pullys
I use a flex fan with no mods having to be done..reason for the 140 amps which can be bought on e-bay fairly cheap is for later things like a electric fans, amps upgrade..etc..it's all about planning out things which you should do any way..as for the 1/4 @ the track I don't use a belt period 20 hp gain. when I get back to the pits I either put it back on to cool or use my big fan..sometimes I put it back on when heading to the stagging lane and pull it off while there ..takes like 30 sec to pull off and is good for a 1-2 tenths. I use the perm-a-cool on my other stang with the pulleys 2950 cfm no mods to make fit with out thee pulleys still need a bigger alternator...

I think that makarovboy must of just had a bad experience with his set. I have all three pulleys on, with an 800 watt amp and yes at a stop the charging guage will read low. But i have the stock alternator the original battery and have ran this configuration for three years problem free. I have however went to a highflow water pump to compensate for the lack of rotation. With proper cooling system service, and a good range thermostat i don't see a problem with anyone overheating (unless of course you are making some serious power). But then again I have an sn-95 car and it uses dual electric fans, so that might have something to do with my success. As far as hp gains, it has been proven 8-10 hp from all three pulleys. I know this isn't a huge gain but for the amount of work and for stang owners who don't feel comfortable tearing their engines down to swap cams, it is a good bolt on to start with.

stang574, they're fine now. I've never had a problem with overheating, just the battery. After getting rid of the wife's pontiacccch, she commuted everyday in the 5.0, most of it in stop and go traffic (30 miles in 1 /12 to 2 hrs).
This was fine in the summer, but when winter and darkness arrived, it was sometimes necessary for her to run the heater, wipers, lights, and the fan was on. It just wouldn't keep the battery charged, day after day of this type of driving. The 140amp 1 wire solved all these problems and I just don't worry about it anymore. If you feel you have to have pulleys, that's fine also, but from personal experience and having read hundreds of threads regarding the same problem, I would spend my money on other mods if I were doing it again.
