I don't know that it's fraud... but it is skating on thin ice. You're theoretically supposed to disclose when you've messed with the car in such a way that would drastically change the characteristics or value. You run the risk of them paying out to replace an 84 4-banger.

When i called for insurance, the only thing he asked me for was the VIN number, and my personal information. When i got the car the swap was basically done except for a few things. For all i know that is the original everything in the car.

But that's not what you know. Usually (in my experience anyway) they verify the engine and drivetrain. Don't be surprised if they total out the car for a minor fender bender (4-cyls aren't worth squat, really, hence the cheap insurance).

Yeah, liability only. One of the joys of a salvage title is that I can't get comp until I have receipts and pictures showing everything is complete. They're requiring me to put a stereo back in it too. Oh well.

I'm paying about 1600 a year for
liability on my 91 GT vert, 86 W250, and full on my '01 RS, with high payout limits and low deductibles.

I need to talk to another department at USAA about getting declared value insurance for the truck and mustang, as they're both pretty customized (ram's lifted with a couple grand in the motor, gt's got almost 6k in the motor)
