Default ecu question

the previous owner of my car did some really crazy s*** to this car. there are alot of wiring harness that arent connected. should i get a manual and find out what goes where or should i buy a new ecu and run all new wires? all kinds of little stuff doesnt work and the gauges are goofy and there is just a ton of stuff messed up. what do you think and how much is a new ecu with all the wires?

if theres 2 plugs the same around each other just plug em in.
all the connectors are unique and will only have 1 place they can go.

and a new harness and computer will be at least $400

thats the thing though, i have searched and i find some harnesses that have two female ends and they are diff colors and they dont plug in and there is nothing else close. there are a whole bunch of random wires that i think the last guy put in himself that goes god knows where and does who knows what. its just weird. what do you think if this is the case...the ones that really bother me is right behind and above the glove box there are two female plug ins that arent plugged in...one is a green plastic cover the other is off white....anyone know where they go? they are about 1'x2' plug in.

cruise controll doesnt work, the fan motor to the heater works most of the time, pretty much when im driving otherwise it slows down or shuts off at a stop light. i replaced the bulb to the reverse lights. only one works and they are connected and the fuse is good. the dome light doesnt work and not sure why not. i've rechecked all fuses and all bulbs and wires and everything looks ok but i find all kinds of stuff not connected and not sure what it goes to and nothing is near it to plug in....its just bothersome

Holy crap dude that sounds like a nightmare. It was prolly a project gone wrong. I hate people who half *** things. If I were you I would get some wiring diagrams and start chasing down those wires.

What wiring diagrams do you need? I can hook you up with the one for the computer harness.
