Default rebuild or crate?

what would be the cheapest and best way to do this, im restoring an 85 pony and im deciding whether or not to fully rebuild my original 302 (pistons, rings, gaskets, oil pump, cam, springs, rockers, intake, carb) or buy a long block off of ebay (302 or 351?) what do u guys think? i believe some long blocks on ebay are goin for 1500-2000........

also how much is it usually to rebuild a t5 with heavy duty gears?

if you can do the labor yourself and all the stock parts are in good shape, it would be a lot cheaper to rebuild the stock motor.

well its a tause up, if you plan on doin the rebuild your self and just get your machine work ,and the proper tools yes , if not an short block is the way to go and buy new heads with the valves in them , the rest ins bolt-on's

well if you are going to put a larger cam than with the rebuild new pistons will be needed even if you don't bore out the block..due to no valve reliefs

thats if you have the tools, time, and patience to do it and do it right. if your on a budget and have these thigns rebuild it... if not, but a long block and just drop it right in, a 351 would be a nice upgrade =)
