Sorry if I missed it somewhere, but why do you want to keep the stock gears? ...or is it a $$$-factor?

RE: Trans Ratios
Heres an overview of the transmissions and theirgear ratios commonly sold... Most stock Mustangs were able to smoke the crap out of 1st gear and easily chip 2nd. The change in the first gear shouldn't be horrible (especiallyif you're not a drag racer)and would give you a little more traction off the line. I'm assuming you're still on a harder compound street tire? Unfortunately, this is one of those things that unless you drove another car set up like yours with the different trans, you'll never really know untill you try it...
You can also check out ddperformance.com. They have a good reputation and have been in business for over 10 yrs..

RE: Trans Ratios
They were very cool on the phone and had all the right answers. When I rebuild my current trans I will get parts from them as well.
Interesting note, the trans I am buying from them has the "high alloy" gear set in it. They feel this is an upgrade and the way to go. 94gtcoupe, you stated previously this was not necessarily the best?

RE: Trans Ratios
thats right, it all depends on how u drive, if your rough on the tranny and dump the clutch (moving or sitting still) they'll actualy make it weaker because the harder the part the sell dexterity (flexability)it has there for the are more prone to cracking but they are less prone to shearing (teeth being ground off from grinding the gears) for my driving the stronger alloy gears might last a week, it all depends on the driving style
