Default Trans Ratios

Is the 2.95:1 first gear ratio in a T-5 going to be problematic with stock 308 gears, as compared to the stock T-5 ratio? Many of the new or rebuilt T-5's have this "upgrade".

your first gear will be WAY to long with a 2.95 and a 3.73 let alone a 2.95 and a 3.08

2.95 with 4.10's will still be longer than the stock ratio 1st and 3.73

i wouldn't consider the longer gears till more like 500WHP with 3.73's or 4.10's and i just did the same thing in the 373 to 355 post except i included MPH to help understand it lol i might make a post with the 2.95's with the different gear gears VS. stock 3.35 with 3.73's and 4.10's and make a chart or something

Personally I love the stock ratio. Thats part of what made the 5.0 such a beast when it came out (I was driving one back then!?!). That off the line, push you into your seat, feeling Fox's were known for. The problem I am finding is most of the new /rebuilt T-5's are using this gear. I like the Ford Racing T-5 but they use the lower ratio, not what I want.

it's realy not that hard to find one with the stock 3.35 or to even open the new one when u get it and switch the first gear is easy as hell...

BTW when they say 2.95 it's not just the first gear thats different it's 1st- 3rd that they change
