That is a crossover pipe.

If you take it out i forgot the terminology for it. But you will loose some power. You will hear a cam more if you have one.

No if you cut it out and weld in where it used to be. example: you are running 2 pipes ===== like that instead of a pipe in between which is called the crossover pipe. You can take it out but you will loose some power and then there is terminology but i can't remember the name.

The 2 piece H pipes are usually cheaper ones. Pacesetter and Summit's H are the only ones I've really seen that split in the crossover like that. BBK, Bassani, Mac, etc, all are one piece...at least at the crossover.
