want to run 12:50's
i would like to 12.50's..the car is a bone stock 1989 5.0 5 speed..fuel injection is a new thing to me. i can make a carb motor run 10 easy, but i want to run at least 12:50 and get decent fuel milage. I plan on at least 3.73 gear, full lehgth headers and flowmasters. but i am confused on what fuel pump, injector size . intake manifolds, throttle bottle size..what cam would be best..i do not mind having to turn a 302 hard..7000 rpm to me is fun..i want to keep it a hydralic roller...and last..is this possable to do with stock heads or do i need to buy some good ones..

RE: want to run 12:50's
here we go 24lbs injectors,190lph pump,70mm tb,and a e cam with a trick flow or edelbrock intake, and the 12's are possible with the stock heads if you put the car on the bottle, but without you might need to do a little bit of suspension work and lighten it up.So the right thing would be to do is get some afr's and forget the bottle and get in the 12's, and o yeah with the stock heads you don't need to worry about bigger injectors just get a regulator

all the above is good but you can also shed lot of dead weight out of the car too. things like spare tire and jack, rear seats, front sway bar, sound deadening materials in floorboard, etc, etc, etc. a good cam along with new heads and a good intake will most likely get you there easy provided you get some good sticky tires or better yet some slicks.
