So your saying coolant temp sensor and ECT ( engine coolant temp sensor ) are different things ?

I should have caught that sooner, I think you mentioned the sensor being on the drivers side before...
You are moving the sensor for the gauge, assuming you are talking about the single wire sensor.
You should be ok mounting this in the back of the lower intake, but the coolant temps may not be accurate due to low coolant flow in that location. Not that the stock gauge is accurate to begin with.

The ect is upfront, i moved the single wire to the back of the intake. So the single wire is just for the gauge, correct ?

RE: Quick ECT question
Thought so....Mine isnt mounted on the heater lines, its in the lower intake...I believe thats where it was on the stock intake also....But its been ALONG time since i've seen it....

RE: Quick ECT question
Ahh. I'm understanding the confusion (on my part) now. VRI is right.... The sensor you're holding is the ECT sensor, which goes in the tubes on the pass side that come out of the lower intake and run to the heater core. The Coolant Temp Sensor mounts on the driver's side in the front of the lower intake and uses the push on, 1-wire connector.

RE: Quick ECT question
Hmm.....Well i put the ECT where the coolant temp sensor ( push on wire ) was on the orig. intake. The old intake only had 2 holes, 1 on the dirvers side for that sensor ( redwire ) and 1 large one for the coolant tube for the heater. I'll go check it out here in a few days so.......It wont be a hard fix so i dont think its a big deal for now. Thanks for your help felas.

On the factory intake the ECT does not thread into the block. The ECT threads into the heater tube.
I may havejust stated the obvious, but I couldn't tell from your post..
