Default Starter Problems

I have a 92 5.0 lx convert. 5 speed. Every time i start it the starter does not disengague until about 4-5 seconds after the car is already started making a nasty noise. i have replaced the starter 3 different times, same problem, i just did a clutch so though y not do the flywheel, that should fix it right? nope, still having problems, i have also changed the ignition switch (underneath the steering wheel) twice, i have also replaced the starter selenoid (fender well) twice. still having problems. i have not replaced the wires from the fender well to the starter yet, is there anything else i should look at???????????? im stumped!!!!! please HELP.
It is the right starter, and the ignition is not sticking.

It has to be one of those. My first guess would be the starter relay, second would be the ignition key switch.

Does the starter have a solenoid on it? Because this is a common problem by putting a sn95 starter on, and you try to wire up the solenoid. If not, and its the correct starter, try replacing the lock cylinder in the column

The wires wouldn't cause it to stick... You've got a problem somewhere else... Either in the lock cylinder, the solenoid, or starter.... Have you had the car long? Or did you buy the car and it was doing this?

try shimming your starter. It's more than likely getting hung up on your flywheel. If the armature gets hung it will still draw current from your battery and act like it's still engaged.

Take a look at your flywheel. If some of the teeth look jacked up, you might have to get another one. That's what could be causing your starter to hang up if the shimming is correct. I have bought starters from autozone and the only problem I have with them is that they burn up too quick; even with little to no abuse.
