Default interesting motor offer

A friend of mine offered me the following:

1969 351C 4V complete, needs a crank kit, heads are 4V and have been redone, has Edelbrok 4 barrel intake and a Holley 750 dbl pumper.

1969ish C6 transmission that he rebuilt himself incorrectly hence it was never used as reverse = drive(no clue how he did that)

Driveshaft complete from 1969 cougar redone

Sitting on an engine stand in his garage an oily(not rusty) mess since 1996

He says 200 takes it all what do you guys think? (I don't have serial numbers from the parts yet)

fordstroker is probably gonna pipe up here.... From what I've heard there are a lot of ways to screw a C up. It would be a cool project, but unless you know exactly what you're doing I'd just stick with a W

if you are not somewhat of a seasoned engine builder, meaning have built some fairly radical windsor motors, the last engine you need to be building is a cleveland. They are simply awesome, but there are plenty of ways to screw one up, easy to mismatch parts, matched parts on a cleveland are crucial.

Well, I have no intention of building it atm, I just finished redoing my 302. I would not attempt to rebuild a motor myself anyway, I would have a good machine shop do the longblock complete, then finish it myself.
What am am interested in, is what kind of a value is this, is 1969 a good year for clevelands as it is for windsors, whats this kind of stuff worth? I could possibly clean up and resell all of this and raise more money for parts for my current project, basically I have no concrete plans and am trying to research options a bit, thanks for your replies!

what fordstroker said is so true, but it would be sick the potential on a cleve is so much more than windsor. but u cant afford to mis anything on those motors.

well its not a 69 cleveland, they were from 1970-1974, so make sure its a cleveland. Secondly, you better pick a shop that has cleveland experience and not a typical chevy shop who has done the occasional windsor, you will have a pile of junk. If the block is standard bore and it sonic checks good for .030, its worth money, if the head is a closed chamber 4v head, those are worth money, if there open chamber, blah.

why do u think people make clevor motors, and not wevland motors. the heads are so great, the closed chamber ones that is.

I'm no cleveland expert, is there an easy way to tell if it is open chamber or closed chamber 4v head?
