AFR, Twisted Wedge or Edelbrock

RE: AFR, Twisted Wedge or Edelbrock
Personally, I would be looking at the TW's or 185's. If you're going to spend almost 1400 on heads, might as well get a set you can grow into.
Also, for whomever cares...... I sent a message to Keith Craft thru Ebay about the heads listed earlier in this thread. They said they ported them in house and then upgraded the hardware. That makes them seem like a really good deal, depending on the extent of the actual porting they did over what AFR does....
...sounds a little fishy to me, I think......

Very interesting thread!
To answer some questions here. Our OTB TW head measures at 170ccand is always within 1-2cc of that 170. Your also comparing a fully CNC'd head to an AS CAST head and the last time I checked the TW as cast head is the highest flowing head in it's class. The TW head gives you many options and ranges for any combination, it can be used an a introductory head all the way up to an 8 sec. renagade car. I am not going to say that the other brands don't make good heads because they do. But if you look, the TW head is the winningest head in NMRA history for a reason.

Oldie, but a goodie...
I like the AFR heads because EVERY head comes with a CNC'd combustion chamber and ports.
They also come with 8mm valves (lighter than the 11/32 typical valves on the other aftermarket heads).
This allows them to use a stronger, lighter, and smaller diameter 1.290" valve spring.
They have no mass past problems either.
In my opinion, they are the best bang for the buck for what all you get.
And I do not even work for AFR

I need some new heads for my stang & not sure which one's to get. Thinking of the AFR 165's, Edelbrock or Twisted Wedge heads. I can't use anything with the 2.02 valves besides the TW's cuz I don't have my pistons notched. Which do you think would be the best with my set up? Also should I keep the E303 or get a custom cam? After evrything is installed I plan on having it tuned.
First of all I have a 306 w/ TRW forged pistons, E303, Typhoon Intake, 1.6 FMS ped mount, 70 TB, 73 mm C&L, 24lb injectors, 255 fuel pump, MSD set up, BBK shorties, MAC o/r x-pipe, bassani mufflers w/ dumps, T-5 w/ king cobra clutch, 3.55's, etc.........

Trickflow person here too. They are a great head to go with as they perform awesome out of the box and have the potential to grow with the rest of your setup as you see fit. Not to mention, they will save you a few hundred as well.
