Default De-rusting a Rustang...

I've been bitching about the surface rust on my car lately so today I started on what will end up being a multi-day project. I started with my hatch.

Rust (all surface):

When most of it was sanded off, had a bit more sanding to do:

After 4 coast of Rustoleum, masked:

Unmasked:

The patches toward the top of the rear bumper cover are getting tackled on Sunday...gonna get the cover off and get rid of them then. If you have rust on your car, its a PAIN IN THE *** getting it off. I was lucky cause mine is white and it's not hard to match white paint!

The nice UPS guy dropped these off today, too:

Supposedly it does. I sanded it off, used a rust-lifting jelly and then painted.

Looks good. You just paint under the lights and plate?

Also, what size are your new skins?

Yeah...they are the 255/50/R16 Mickey Thompsons. I was planning on going to the track this weekend but I'd rather take care of the rust.

Thanks for the compliments all.

5.0stanger- For now that's all I've painted. I'm taking the bumper cover off sunday to get rid of those patches you see...I've also got some surface rust in the door hinge area and on the bottoms of the doors to get rid of and paint.

that Rustoleum will old off the rust for a little while but not for good like a traditional paint it will comeback within 5-6 months just like a primer it will absorb moisture
