Smog "stuff" needed if running w/o cats?
I am just following up on a post where I was experiencing backfire on decel and this is after a header, h pipe (no cats) and flow40 upgrades... It was suggested i remove the smog related pipe/ hoses from the headers and the H pipe. Remove and then plug the holes. I just want to make sure that this is not necessary. I guess my hesitation is the H pipe (w/o cats) has the tube for the smog connection soif it was not needed then why did the manufacturer put thetube on the H pipe without cats?

They need to produce the pipe in a fashion that ALL existing hardware will connect to it with nothing left loose.
you DO NOT need the smog stuff, like we said in your other thread.
and since you will more than likely ask later... the holes in the back of the heads DO need to be plugged off, and you can plug them with a 5/8-11 bolt that is about 3/4" long.

Those holes arent too bad at all to get to in the back of the heads....Just a lil guessing work cuz you cant really see em. Its alot easier when the intake is off, but can be done with it on.
