the oD after neutral is for normal driveing (does all the shifting for you)
the one after that the D lets you turn off o/d so it doesnt turn on, its best to prevent the car from dropping into it's highest gear ratio when towing or ascending hills, thus allowing uninterrupted pulling power.
First gear would be just like a stick u know its the first gear u have all the power you can leave it in first at a red light and floor it til whatever rmp u want (5000) then shift to second.

best thing is just leave it in OD

just don't punch it in while in you are in the actual o/d gear.

you will burn it up quick that way...
