block has to b notched for 347 tho rite? and im looking for 350 RWHP using gt40 iron heads and intake from explorer ported by thumper....read the earlier posts to c what my plan was...

I've read it. Thumper GT40s +Thumper intake and you want 350rwhp. That's not going to be easy.

Two things :
1. 347 cubic inches - Who cares if the block needs notched? You're spending $900 on port work. You're willing to build a new motor by using a 331. You'll need to bore it (meaning it's going to the machine shop). Why shoot down the idea because of $80 worth of clearance work? You're giving yourself 5% more motor to work with in trying to reach your goal.

2. Use a custom cam from Jay Allen, Ed Curtis or Buddy Rawls (I use Jay).

These 2 things should have you well past your 350rwhp N/A goal.

thanks for the input full auto. Im sry im an amateur with engine building, done minor stuff tho, just trying to learn some stuff. i work with my uncle around his shop and slowly getting to understnad things. i wanna use 4.10 gears will the 347 be too much for the gears? and when u are saying 350hp with the 347 do u mean with the thumper heads and intake?

remember to ask that guy thumper guy about milling your heads and trying to get your compression around 10.5:1 then i am certain you can get you your goal
