Ok, a shorty header is what the name implies (kinda like all of the headers). These are the ones that look like that http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...mp;showValue=3
An equal length looks similar, but is all bendy and weird looking because they make all the tubes the same length. A long tube header is huge and the collector is basically flush with the bottom of the car which then connects to an x or h pipe. So, to make your decision easy, if you're gonna be over 300 horsepower, go with longtubes. If this car is just gonna be a DD or fun weekend car that's close to stock, get equal length shorties that are ceramic coated.

shorties are much easier to install, there are unequal and equal length headers, equals will give you a bit more hp, but not equal are easier to install, shorties will bolt up to staock or after market h or x pipes. The long tubes are harder to install and that is all I really know about long tubes.

It's personal preference. But my favorite combo is Ceramic coated equal length shorties, off-road h-pipe, and flowmasters or SLP Loudmouth 1. It'll be nice and loud

I JUST installed my LTs this Saturday and took a better part of the day and I am a mechanic. I'm making at least 400hp and needed them. You need to take out the steering shaft and lift the passenger side of the engine to get them in. You'll also need O2 sensor extensions with LTs and a short x or h pipe.

bbk longtubes dont require anything to be done with the steering shaft, but are a pita to put in as you have to lift the motor to get the passenger one to fit
