Default Trunk Release question

well i used the search, but couldn't really find anything.
I have a 87 mustang coupe 5.0 with the trunk release in the glovebox...the fuel door popper works, but i push the trunk button and nothing happens...i haven't really got to check it out closely, but could the wire just be unhooked, or is it something a little more in depth?

thanks! Also, i have an 85mph speedo. how hard is it to convert to a 140 or 160 mph speedo?

I recently found out that problem. You either have to have the car on, or have the electric on running through the car. I think that is the only way it will work.

no on the neutral or park as far as I know, check the fuse for the trunk release, make sure you have power to the trunk switch also, could be a bad switch, bypass the switch and check it out.
