valve body is just a unscrew one and screw up the other usually..like 18 screws tho..and a converter is just a slid on and off deal..

I did mine my self, it took a few hours with me and my buddy at work on a lift. A valve body swap will usually take about an hour or two (depending on what valve body you get)if you're quick and well organized, probably even quicker.A shift kit install will take a good amount of time longer than a valve body swap since you have to remove the separator plate, swap springs, drill out orifices, etc.

You pretty much got it. Drop the pan, drain the fluid in the pan, remove 3 bolts for the tranny filter, remove 24 more bolts for the valve body. Reverse process for the install UNLESS you get a manual valve body, then you have to run some wires for the electric O/D delete. The converter isquite a bigger job though, you have to drop the exhaust, driveshaft, tranny and disconnect a few linkages and electrical connections.

I wouldn't even be able to guess the labor for a shift kit and converter install (something that I should know, I work in a shop lol).It isgoing to be quite a fewthough, I'd guess over 8 hours of labor which can get pretty expensivefor the normal guy.

valve body's are easy. just gotta remember where your checkballs go otherwise you're screwed. the torque convertor, you'll have to pull the trans to put a new one in, and since i'm picky, i'd probably rebuild the trans if it hasnt already been done.

shift kits are easier than you think. pretty much the same as a valve body, expect when you take the valve body out you'll actually remove some valves and install new springs. sometimes youll remove a check ball, or drill a hole in the spacer plate, but usually its just new springs.
