Default safe? battery in trunk/conv.?

I was just curious of the safety of putting my battery in the trunk on my convertible? If I want to go to the local dragstrip for pay to play, will that pass tech? I don't see alot of verts racing locally, so I haven't seen this set up on one.

The setup for putting a battery in the trunk of a vert is the same for putting it in a hard top. Pick up a rule book. Summit sells an entire battery relocation kit.

just get a sealed battery box and mount it in the trunk then you wont have to worry about it

Here's mine and it passes tech. If you have a gel filled battery like an optima, you won't need a vented battery box.

Don't forget you are going to have to have a master cut off switch for it when you move it to the back. You won't pass inspection without one of those either.

Me and my brother are convinced that tech guys at the track start everything by the outside appearance of your car. His car is all in primer and holes in the seats etc etc. And they tech him like crazy, they make sure he has everything! And when they find out he does, they still give him grief about something ya know. My car is in decent condition. They pop the hood, close it, check for drive loop, make sure my seat is bolted in, and that's it. All the other guys I go with that have paint don't get hassled either. Although I did get the new guy one time... He got in my car and made sure the seatbelt worked, I was wearing shorts, and had sweat pants in the car that I was going to toss on when I ran and he made me put them on right there in the tech line to make sure haha. What a b@$tard...

Is all that for an event or T&T. Christ, they never look at any of that on mine. T&T though.
