Default stock midpipe removal

hey guys,
quick question:
I am removing my stock midpipe right now....I've already unbolted the stock headers, the two hangers that come off the tranny brace are out, and the back section is unbolted....BUT I can't get the thing to drop. What else would be keeping it from dropping down? Thanks in advance.

Ok lets see....you have the 4 bolts on the back of the pipe out, the collector (to header) bolts, 02 sensors are unplugged, and the hangers are down, and its STILL stuck? Maybe its rusted....wiggle that SOB

yes, that could be holding you up. It comes from the smog pump. Pop the air tube off and it should come down. You said you unbolted the headers....you mean you unbolted the h-pipe to the headers right? Not the actual headers

Ya I dropped mine last weekend, removed rear flanges, front collectors & pulled out the hangers at the tranny. Pipes in rear were a little tight to get out.

ok so that smog tube ain't coming out, lol.

I tried to pull the bitch out at the h-pipe and it won't budge, so then I tried d/c it from the top in the engine compartment and then snake the tube down...that was a no go.

I am about ready to hack the **** off. Open to suggestions......that tube should just be slid off of the connection at the h-pipe right? I loosened the clamp that was around it, but it just won't budge. Any suggestions appreciated.

A friend of mine had that tube rust out so we cut it off & welded it over. Didn't seem to matter.

yeah you dont need it, you can still pass emissions without it although if your planning on running catalytic converters you might want to keep it because it helps prolong the life of them so they dont burn up as easily, just make sure if you cut it off you have a way to close up all the holes on the exhaust pipe, you dont want to close up the tube coming from the air pump though, unless if you dont care if it breaks
