Default best header

Hey i know this is probably a common question but i searched the basic words "headers" and "header" and nothing at all came up soooo. i have an 86 motor going into a 88 Gt and just wondering what the best header would be. Equal length or just normal 1 5/8" shortys. Any info is aprreciated thanks

FRPP, JBA, and Bassani are all stainless, and available ceramic coated. Summit and BBK make decent quality headers, but they are mild steel.

I have hooker equal lenght that were on the car when I bought them and thy don't leak.My 81 camaroalso had hooker LT's with no problems, when I had a 99 GT I was told to stay away from MAC header.

rumor has it that slp parts fit a mustang better than anything else. but as far as long tubes vs short tubes, an article i found searching for MAC exhaust clips on 5.0's says that shorties for anything under 350 rwhp basically. Longtubes will make up to 22ft lbs less torque than shorties on a mildly modified engine.

BBK all the way. you can get BBK equal length chrome with gaskets and bolts from Brenspeed off Ebay for 194 shipped or the non equal length cheaper

if you go bbk i would get different bolts. i have heard of them being cheap and breaking if you try to remove the headers later on. nothing wrong with their headers though. i have the unequal length shorties

Not really but, id watch out. I have clearence problems with my equal length bbk ceramic coated hearders. Steering collum
