if it ends up being something catastrophic, swap it out with a 3400. because you have a 3100 it would bolt right in, and it would be a little bit easier to pass on the highwayi was gonna do that swap in my 92 z24 but i didnt wnat to spend the money on a motor that would only get me into the low 15's...so i bought a mustang

+1 on the 3800 swap. I love those motors. My wifes regal has 185,000 on it and doesn't use any oil and gets 27 mpg highway. Where I live there are lots of mountains so that is pretty good. They have great power for a v6 also. I would try my best to get a GTP motor though, those things are fun.

Nope....not at all. Here's a quick test you could do....remove the serpentine belt, start the engine, check if the noise diminishes, and check if the source of the noise is from the front of the engine....

wouldn't the motor shake bad if that was the case?
wouldn't the motor shake bad if that was the case?
also i think i might just have this motor rebuilt. it more than likely be cheaper and i would rather put my money in the notch cause it needs a lot of work

u can get a junk yard 3.8 for like 500 and they last for ever, my roomates runs mid 11's with 219,000 and my had 249,000 when it was stolen, and it started right up today after sitting since the beggining of january and drove fine with the exception of the no glass and front shaking from the frame/alignment they are reliable as hell and if u can get one and the tranny cheap i would do that rather than the rebuild, IMO a 3.1 just isn't worth it

thanks i will try that when i get some free time.

if u can really get them that cheap i might start calling around then. that would be nice to have the supercharger version under the hood of the 4dr car

if u deside to do the swap goto clupgp.com and look for a guy named ed morad he owns one of the main GP scrap yards
