uhm ok...i thikn we need to relax a bit here. I was speaking in generalities and just stating that I am pretty sure people aren't stupid enough to buy a 310 degree cam and put it in a stock motor.

Lots of duration isn't really going to hurt you. Its lots of lift that will, tons of lift is going to give you less port velocity and thus less low RPM torque.

If you go to the comp cams website or iskys webiste or cranes webisite they have a list of cams available and their traits such as idle quality, what gears you should use, what stall speed etc. I am just sayin its not rocket science like all you guys make it sound like, and for someone who doesn't know that much about cam selection looking at the powerbands can be a pretty good place to start. Dont be a dick son....i am just tryin to simply stuff for people that dont have super brains like you.

First of all, my apologies for not letting this thread "die", but if I do, it'll be a disservice in preventing bad information and wrongful "generalizations"........so bear with me.....
[sm=itsok.gif]....don't take it the wrong or negative way, but you called it upon yourself.....at no point in any of my posts (aside some well intentioned sarcasm....[sm=icon_sneaky.gif]), did I call you any name. You, on the contrary, did. Which is fine with me, I've heard them all.....importance where is due.....
1. You're promoting sound and looks over performance......simple Q......isn't that the RICER mentality we abhor and ridicule......[sm=smiley25.gif] [:'(]
2. Generalizations are wrong...period. SPECIALLY in performance applications.....powerbands anh?....there's is a good member here that did exactly what you keep suggesting, H/C/I and block matched the "powerbands"....however....he's falling short by 55 HP and 1,000+ rpms ........is that 5 to 6 HP?........I don't think so.....[sm=nono.gif] ....and here is the grandaddy of why generalizations are wrong......if they were OK, we would have to say that crap/manure/excrement (sorry can't use **** ) is good to eat.....why?.....how could 250,000 billion+ flies around the world be wrong?..........
Again, don't take this the negative way.....you have the chance to learn w/out costing you a dime.......I have had to pay for parts and lost races in order to learn.......so it's up to you....providing bad information is the only thing that's worse though......
