Only DOHC engines need premium. They might run better with it and the timing advanced but they dont require it.

you shouldnt haev to, the motors arent that much different from a gt and they're meant to run 87

I guess most of the answer would be in the compression ratio of the Cobra. What is it, compared to a GT?

x2. Cobra compression is similar or less than 5.0 HO. Unless you've bumped your timing (which I would recommend if you can afford premium every tank), you should be running 87 (or the low grade).

W/ stock timing, the higher octane gas will be harder to combust....overkill.
