Default t-5 tranny question

I have a question about my t-5 before i go and put a new one in it. My t-5 seems like it is forzen in gear it is stuck in third but yet i can move the shifter into other gears but it still wants to go in 3rd. i didnt know if there was something common in these things that break. And would be an easy fix before i put a new trnny in it.
Thanks for the help

so if you move the shifter, the trans stays in 3rd anyway?

or you can move it... but it goes back to 3rd?

u broke some shift linkage if it moves like normal to other gears, but it if has a lot of resistance or trys to pull it's self back in gear then it's prolly just bent linkage

thats what i was thinking it just wont seem to get out of that gear. It is hard getting it to other gears but it does go into them but is still in that gear. So it sounds to me like i might as well just change trannys.
