I think my second gear synchro is going out, it whines like a bitxh when i downshift, and this morining, i backed out, and started going, and i go to shift into second, and .... CHHHHHHHHH, checked, my foot was on the floor. so that further enforced the fact that i think the synchro is going out, so

That sucks, I am right there with you, except mine is the notorious 3rd to 4th gear synchro.

mine grinds from 1st to 2nd and 3rd to 2nd, and yes it whines on downshift, piece of chit brass synchro

yea the shop test drove mine and 2nd is ****ed now, so if anyone wants a rebuild speak up and i'll try to get a discount on the rebuilt kits

Everyone in this post is "downshifting." That's why your tranny's are going out. Don't downshift on the street.

mine has nothing to do with downshifting, it has to do with the guy that test drove the car beating the **** out of it and missing 2nd

I've never heard of downshifting hurting synchros... I usually downshift at least one gear but I rev match the lower gear so when i let the clutch out its very smooth, cant see that doing any harm to synchros.

I probably need a rebuild on mine, but I am giong to see if putting in some fluid helps first - :P
