timing chain question

RE: timing chain question
If its off one tooth because of it stretching badly I guess its possible. I think on a 302 every tooth is 11* of cam timing, not sure about a 400. By spark and fuel blowing through carb do you mean backfire on fuel is getting spit out the wrong way?

RE: timing chain question
stretched timing chains can cause all kinds of problems during deceleration because the timing chain goes slack
it shouldnt be too hard to change it out though,,,, those 400's were pretty easy to work on

RE: timing chain question
yes zach to your reply...it's stranded at a wal-mart....i tried to set it to #1 but it's way off so tried different pos..and no luck...
i hammered 2nd and as soon as i let off i heard a bang..then she died...she wanted to start but wouldn't accelerate...idled a little but as soon as i gave it gas......nothing...
it's and easy change i know, but the crank pully has never been off...so it will be a pita
