common mistakes are installing a headgasket backwards , re using head bolts, failing to thread seal bolts that run into coolant passages.

Where do you get the service book from? I think Ive seen some at like PAW, are those the ones you talking about?

ORIGINAL: CarJway

GETA SERVICE BOOK!!! That will give you all the torque specs you need and some books even walk you through it! It's not hard, just time consuming. (I have done plenty of them)

There is more than enough knowledge on this site to help you out.

Your mechanic buddy should have everything you need. Flat rate sucks! That's all I have to say

in the house,

oil, coolant being drained while you are taking off the upper an lower intake manifold with air tools, its off in 15 mins. 7/16 1/4in flex socket, all header bolts off in under 5 mins, raise car up on lift and zap the rest out.

It amazing watching the Master Techs bust thier butt to make a 40 hour paycheck out of alot of cars.

But yeah ive seen em do the HCI in sevaeral hours and on to the next big job, and turn 14 hours in a 6 hour period, no comebacks[&:], boss came up to me with the flatrate contract, I walked

The problem is with melacking confident to be able to do it. I wish I could have done this stuff when I was younger.
