Putting 351 heads on a 302.

Putting 351 heads on a 302.
I was thinking about putting some E7TE heads on my car. I found a set from a 351. I was reading that they have a larger head bolt hole on the 351 heads. Isnt there something you can buy that will fill up the gap in the head bolt holes. Or will an E7TE head be the same as an E7TE head off of a 302.

in my opinion the C90E or DOOE are better i amrunning a set with 1.94 valves and screw in studs till my dart pro1's are finished.. edelbrock makes a bushing for putting the 351 heads on a 302..

I read that the E7TE's were better than a lot of OE heads. With smaller chambers and so fourth. Though the ones you mentioned I see used 1.84 valves.

ok if those bushings are even .001 longer than the head is tall you'll have issues. make sure they arent. of even better, just use some grade 8 washers under the bolt heads. you guys gotta remember the heads are held in position by two dowel pins - they aren't going ANYWHERE.
guessing from you sig, you have an 88 which means you already have E7TE heads. there is no difference between the 302/351 E7TE's except the head bolt holes are drilled bigger on the 351's. the OE heads you are referring to as crap is the D8OE heads, which is what fox bodies had up until 85/86/87 when they changed castings. the D8OE heads are just like the E7's but with a larger chamber. they should FLOW the same though. the C9OE and D0OE 351w heads are very similar to the GT-40 heads in terms of flow and performance, you just gotta knock the bumps down in the exhaust ports. I have a set of the C9's on my 302 and they are nasty. the problem with these heads is if you find a unmolested pair they need hardened exhaust seats installed so you can run unleaded fuel. for the money, they arent worth doing up because GT-40s are found cheap enough and actually flow a *little* better.

the bushing's will work fine... i have used them many times... they are a stepped washer arp also makes a kit 154-3605 many alluminum heads have the 351 size bolt holes and say to use that kit when putting on a 302... i would just go to the scrap yard and find an 96-97.5 explorer with gt40's or 97.5- 2000 with the gt40p's.
