Just like the title says, is this a good idea?
Is it really gonna improve ( this is subjective, but hey, you understand..) the sound. Obviously its gonna sound different, but how is a "fabbed" h-pipe different from buying a manufactured one?
Is sound quality going to be close to that of a manufactures h, or is it gonna be worse?
My x-pipe is cool... but I want a little louder, and I also want a different (mainly more growly.. yes, its a word! ) sound.
Thoughts anyone?? Thanks!

Ok... as opposed to buying a $170 h... and paying to have it put in.. OR... just using some straight pipe in its place. Either way you are paying for welding, and cutting out the old pipe...why not just have them throw up 2.5" ( I think) piping to the mufflers?

just get a bbk or w.e.... or dont waste the money, and stick w. ur o/r x pipe... if u get a bbk or other brand, you can just bolt that biotch in... and straight pipes=BAD IDEA, the crossover balances the exhaust, which is benificial to you...
imo-stick w. what ya got, but if u must get something else, get a 2.5inch bbk hpipe

it sounds like you want the h pipe sound. I have had both and the H is louder and deeper. You will be wasting time making your own when if you want to be cheap get a used one of Ebay for $50. You wqould also have to add oxygen sensors if you make your own, sell your X and buy an H.

I just went from shorty headers H pipe to LTs and X-pipe. HUGE difference in sound and power but then again my change sort of uncorked my engine. I still have the O/R H-pipe if you're interested.
